When becoming a professional video editing freelancer, a multiple number of things have to come to a certain standard. Things such as, understanding your chosen video editing software to execute certain tasks the client wants, comprehending the different editing techniques such as Walter Murch’s ‘’rule of six’’ which includes the 180ยบ rule, rhythm, story etc… which helps structure and make the footage look professional. Structure is one of the most important assets to have in editing; knowing when to cut the footage to the next clip (this relates to rhythm), and building a story out of the footage. In freelance editing is not only putting clips together to make sense, there is other genres of editing such as visual effects and motion graphics. These types of editing are very hard to grasp and too perfect; there is a lot to learn and understand.
